I Mori has been built to preserve health as well as respect the environment and promote energy saving.
At one time cement, synthetic glue, polyurethane and chemical products in general were never used in building …..perhaps it was better this way.
Our grandparents were experts at building houses with the correct solar exposure, probably because the sun was the only source of energy, precious, clean … and above all free.
These seemingly ordinary and simple principles, hid the real motivation for designing a house in this way….namely a healthy and environmentally friendly structure.
We live within a naturally created electromagnetic field, which becomes negative with the use of improper materials such as excessive use of ferrous metal in construction or buildings in reinforced concrete, often with added chemicals and uncontrolled electrical appliances.
At I Mori we have replaced cement with lime, a natural, breathing, product used many years ago.
We have tried to substantially reduce the pollution produced as a result of modifications to the earths’ electromagnetic field - replacing iron with wood, adopting specific solutions to the electrical circuitry- for example in the bedrooms by ensuring the electricity supply reaches the bedside lights without passing behind the headboard of the bed, therefore avoiding the negative magnetic waves created by electricity that could affect you during sleep, therefore leaving the body free to enjoy its rest without hidden intruders.
The circuit breakers installed in all the rooms completely cut off the electrical current in the bedrooms during the night, totally eliminating the disturbance produced from the electrical fields induced from the voltage.
For the thermal insulation on the roof, in place of the polyurethane, we have used wood and cork.
Sandstone and hydraulic lime are the materials used to make the walls over half a metre thick, using traditional construction techniques, this means better insulation and enables the walls to breathe without causing mildew and condensation;
In place of synthetic materials all the walls are painted with a lime wash.
Wood, which is both warm and comforting, has been extensively used (larch, oak, chestnut, elm and pine to name a few) and treated with linseed oil, orange skin, turpentine and bees’ wax, all totally natural products.
The doors, in solid walnut, are constructed without chemical glue, but with screws, nails and bolts, following old traditions.
Innovative methods are used in the drainage of the water. In fact the house is served by a modern system of reed filtration and water purification. A natural system which not only does not damage, but actually respects the environment.
No chemical or synthetic products have been used in the house which could cause fumes harmful to the lungs or ones general health.
